UrFU student, Detroit Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk to lead Russian national hockey team to Olympics

Ural Federal University student and Detroit Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sport and Youth Policy was recently selected as the captain of the Russian national hockey team in the Sochi Winter Olympics.

Head coach Zinetulla Bilyaletdinov personally selected Datsyuk for the job.

"Our whole team is looking forward to the opportunity to represent our country at the home Olympics in Sochi," Datsyuk said on his Twitter feed. "It is a great honor and a great responsibility for all of us, so we will do everything to win."

Datsyuk helped push the Red Wings to the Stanley Cup in 2002 and 2008.
