Yekaterinburg to host aviation forum

Yekaterinburg is scheduled to host the largest avian forum in the Commonwealth of Independent States in June.

The forum is scheduled to take place at the Koltsovo Airport between June 24 and 26. By the end of May, more than 50 different airlines from CIS countries have announced their participation in the upcoming forum, reports.

Aviation route development firm Routes will organize the international aviation forum. Routes is a subsidiary of British based UBM Aviation and specializes in organizing airline and airport networking events throughout the year.

According to the Koltsovo Airport Press Service, the Yekaterinburg aviation forum will consist of 20 minute discussions between event participants. In previous years, Routes' aviation forums have resulted in new aviation routes between Yekaterinburg and Finland, China, the United Arab Emirates and Ukraine, according to

The Koltsovo Airport is located approximately 16 kilometers southeast of Yekaterinburg, and acts as a hub for both Ural Airlines and Aviacon Zitotrans. The airport is currently the fifth largest in Russia, serving more than 50 destinations in Russia and abroad. The airport was originally founded in 1928 as a military airbase, becoming a civilian airport in 1943. The airport became an international hub in 1993, and has since become an active member of the Airports Council International.
