UMMC Yekaterinburg captures the Russian Cup

UMMC Yekaterinburg won the Russian Cup on Thursday, March 8, with a 92-72 win over Nadezhda.

Sue Bird, who only joined UMMC at the start of the year, was named the MVP of the Russian Cup, reports.

Bird is a two-time Olympic gold medal winner with the United States and a two-time world champion.

Additionally, UMMC players Sandrine Gruda of France and Hana Horakova of the Czech Republic will be with their national teams in Ankara, Turkey, in June for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women, where five places for the London Games are up for grabs.
