Sverdlovsk region to host Norwegian social workers

The Sverdlovsk region will host groups from Norway in June and September as part of a cooperative program to improve the professional and educational opportunities for social workers who deal with people with disabilities.

The visit follows a trip made by specialists from the Urals area to Oslo, Norway, last June. During their visit to Norway, the Russian guests visited communities and services for individuals with disabilities. Among them were the social village of Vidarozen, a private cooperative, a small business, and the state-owned enterprise ORT. 

The Russian delegation gained ideas for a social worker training course that would specialize in labor adaptation and socio-cultural inclusion for people with disabilities.

Partners in the project include The University College of R. Steiner; the Ural Institute of Social Education; Good Cause, a non-governmental organization; and the  Ministry of Social Policy of the Sverdlovsk region.
