The Sverdlovsk region’s inflation rate has risen steeply over the past year, Ural Business Consulting recently reported.
Inflation was up 16.9 percent from February 2014. From December to February alone, it jumped 7 percent.
Specific items have shown steeper inflation rates than others.
Since December, various food items have increased in price by 9.9 percent in the region. Overall, in the last year food prices have jumped 25.1 percent.
Compared to the same time last year, strong drink prices have risen by 13.9 percent in the Sverdlovsk region. Since December, the cost has risen by 2.9 percent.
The cost for non-food items also rose by 5.7 percent since December and 11.8 percent over the past year.
Certain services also increased in cost by 6 percent since the end of 2014. Since last February, those services also increased 15.7 percent.
The increased inflation rates are a reflection of the overall economic crisis currently facing Russia and its citizens.
