The Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant recently sent eight B10MB bulldozers to Novaya Zemlya to be used in the construction of a new airport on the Arctic Ocean archipelago.
The tractors were all specially equipped to withstand the harsh conditions of the Arctic, including utilizing fuel and oils that are suitable for the freezing temperatures as well as cabin heaters to keep the operator warm.
“The airport is meant to assist in the development of hydrocarbon deposits in the Arctic shelf plates by providing a reliable aviation link with the continent; our vehicles will help put up the air haven,” the company said in a press release. “The B10MB bulldozers with mechanical transmission and D180 engines have been used in harsh weather conditions for many years now, so they have proven to be reliable and low-maintenance. This is not the first time our bulldozers will be used in the Polar North.”
Tymenzapchast assisted the tractor plant with the shipment.
