According to a recent report from Oblastnaya Gazeta, the Sverdlovsk Regional Centre for Medical Prevention region has noted several alarming health care trends among its patients.
The data showed that almost 58 percent of the patients who required care were overweight, half of the patients had difficulty breathing, and 1 out of every 5 women and 1 out of every 10 men had high blood cholesterol levels. Additionally, a third of the patients at the Health Centre had high blood pressure.
The center surveyed approximately 13,000 people in 2014. The average age of the survey participants was 46 for men and 51 for women.
Established in 2009, health centers are a new addition to the Russian health care system. The primary purpose for the centers is to assist individuals in rehabilitation and prevent disease. Today, there are 19 health centers for adults and six for children in the Sverdlovsk region.
