The Sverdlovsk region's government recently said Our Yard, a Ural-based business that manufacturers outdoor play equipment for children, is making its own product components rather than importing them from other countries.
Many of the pieces for these items were previously imported from foreign manufacturers. Thanks to government assistance, the company has been able to improve both the quality and the production rates of its merchandise.
The company recently received more than $189,000 from the regional budget to begin its import substitution program. The company used the funds to buy Russian-built, high-tech equipment for its manufacturing line rather than purchase the parts from foreign countries.
Thanks to the new equipment, Our Yard can now create plastic caps to cover the bolts that fasten children’s toys. Precise metal and rubber game components are also independently manufactured by the company.
The company also has begun providing similar parts to the European Union as well as neighboring countries. Our Yard recently signed contracts with both the UK and Estonia.
"The fact that production of Sverdlovsk enterprises continues to receive recognition outside of our region and even the country, shows the ability of our industrialists to meet modern production requirements, even in difficult economic conditions," Andrey Misura, the regional minister of industry, said.
