Ural Federal University (URFU) has risen among Russian universities to No. 7 overall and remains No. 1 among the country's federal universities, according to a recent Webometrics ranking.
URFU rector Victor Koksharova attributes his school’s rating to upgrades at the Open University Library and an increase in the number of indexed pages available through search engines.
The global ranking evaluated 24,000 universities, including 1,531 from Russia. This was the first time for 343 Russian universities to be included in the rankings. URFU maintained its stand as the country’s best federal university in the listing compiled by Cybermetrics, a research team that studies universities around the world. The end result of the analysis is published as Webometrics.
QS Developing Countries of Europe and Central Asia and CIS’s Expert RA both include the Webometrics analysis as they rank universities internationally.
