The Sverdlovsk Regional Entrepreneurship Support Fund recently announced that it will raise funds for a new complex dedicated to the memory of military medical personnel who served in World War II.
The Sverdlovsk region built and operated over 150 evacuation hospitals during the war. Countless soldiers were tretated and returned to their duties thanks to military doctors, nurses, medics and orderlies who served 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Sverdlovsk Gov. Eugene Kuyvashev recently announced the decision to raise funds and build the memorial complex to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the World War II victory. Funds are needed to prepare the project’s design, construct the foundation of the memorial and complete engineering surveys.
The memorial, which will be the only one in Russia dedicated exclusively to military medical personnel, is expected to open in May.
