UrFU student a champion at European short track event

Yevhen Zakharova, a student at Ural Federal University (UrFU), is part of the Russian women's team that won the relay race at the European Short Track Speed Skating Championship in the Netherlands.

Zakharova is studying in her third year at the Graduate School of Economics and Management at UrFU in the Sverdlovsk region.

Zakharova was on the team that also included Sophia Prosvirnova, Emin Malagich, Ekaterina Konstantinova and Ekaterina Strelkova at the championship that concluded Sunday.

The Russian athletes said the European Championship used a format different from the format used Russian competitions. This challenged the athletes at the beginning of the race, but they adjusted their strategy.

Teams from around the world gathered to compete in the European Championship.

Zakharova has also won multiple times at the Cup of Russia short track event.
