The Sverdlovsk region has seen the renovation of 10 churches in various villages and towns during the past year.
Oblastnaya Gazeta recently reported on the most beautiful of the renovated churches.
The most remarkable renovations included the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Cherdantseva Sysertsky. The church badly needed a new belfry. Four bells were transported across the Yaroslavl region; and in December, builders installed the belfry’s third tier. The church interior is scheduled to be finished soon.
Renovations on the Church of St. Jonah, Metropolitan of Moscow in the village of Dubrovo began 10 years ago. Recently completed, the project was funded by the Kosulinskogo abrasive plant, the local government administration and the general public.
Our Lady Mother of the Perishing in Kachkanarsky was also recently repaired. The church includes two buildings. One building was constructed in the 1990s. The other building was added four years ago, but its final details are not finished. Last year saw the completion of the interior decorations with more repairs scheduled for 2015.
Our Lady of Kazan in Karpinsk had new windows and a new facade funded by charitable foundations. Local businesses and parishioners continue to collect funds to finish the surrounding area and the building’s interior decorations.
