Infrastucture projects launched to improve technology in Sverdlovsk region

Major infrastructure projects have been launched recently in the Sverdlovsk region, including a high tech industrial park, dubbed “University,” which is just one of several sites to become part of a nationwide network.

In 2005, President Vladimir Putin announced the building of high tech industrial parks. Regions around Russia have begun building these technology parks or starting projects that will lead to those completed technology parks.

Gov. Yevgeny Kuyvasheva and Minister of Communications Nikolay NIkiforov visited “University” on Dec. 29.

“In 2013, there were seven. In 2014, a record is entered as five objects. Technopark, which we discover in the Sverdlovsk region, is the crown jewel of this year, and in general, of the whole program. We believe that in the near future, the technology park will become a growth point for the university. We laid the foundation for the future development of the area, said Nikiforov.” The demand for this kind of infrastructure is very large, so we need to build them more. It is also important that we create the conditions for innovation in the region. If we do that, then we can expect growth in the export of technology and innovation and not export people.”

Kuyvasheva said that social infrastructure sites will also be installed at Technopark, to benefit residents.

“Next year, the construction of three dormitories to seat 1,000: research, scientific and education centers. In the future, we plan to build a shop and create the necessary infrastructure. The total area is about 300,000 square meters. So, we are only at the beginning,” Kuyvasheva said.

The construction of the innovation and technology center was made possible in part by funding through the federal and regional treasuries, amounting to nearly 1 billion rubles.
