The Sverdlovsk region’s Gov. Eugene Kuyvashev recently attended the State Council and the Presidential Council for Culture and Arts to discuss Russia’s cultural policy.
Kuyvashev told the Sverdlovsk region that the general goals outlined by President Vladimir Putin during the meeting are already in place in Sverdlovsk, such as preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the region by teaching children local history at school.
The Sverdlovsk region is an industrial area that focuses on engineering education; the area needs to balance its industrialism with education in the humanities. Officials have developed plans to develop humanitarian appreciation.
The area already receives remarkable support for its theaters, museums and other cultural endeavors.
Local officials have planned literary events to encourage writers with lessons and meetings, as well as other events and programs throughout the coming months.
The action plan to develop cultural appreciation includes improving the pay for humanitarian careers with professional standards and contracts in 2015.
