The government of Sverdlovsk recently announced that the ring road surrounding Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Tagil, and the overpass road on UMMC’s Sovetskaya Street will be priority road projects during the coming months.
The ring road will surround the largest municipalities in the area. Because it is crucial to the area’s economy, Gov. Eugene Kuyvashev assigned the construction projects to the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The Yekaterinburg Ring Road reduces traffic on the Middle Ring, or bypass road. This makes it easier for citizens to commute around the city rather than through the middle of traffic congestion.
Eventually, the Yekaterinburg Ring Road will join other federal roads for even greater ease of access.
Officials hope the road projects will build environments more conducive to improving local quality of life and outside investments. Completing these major inter-regional roads will increase productive traffic by 1.5 to 2 times, improving the local economy with its ease of access to industries.
