Governor honors Sverdlovsk's community leaders

Sverdlovsk Governor Eugene Kuyvashev used a recent event celebrating the Day of the Constitution of the Russian Federation to encourage citizens to reach the goals President Vladimir Putin has outlined for Russia.

Kuyvashev rewarded many people for setting outstanding examples in their communities.

Nikolai Golishev was named Honorary Citizen of Sverdlovsk. Valery Dubovtsev was awarded For Service to the Motherland. Elena Soboleva was formally recognized as the Honored Artist of Russia. Sergei Bogachev was named the Honored Metallurgist of the Russian Federation. Michael Zyablitsev became the Honored Teacher of the Russian Federation. Alex Chekanov received Merit for the Sverdlovsk Region. Vladimir Infantiev was recognized For Services to the Sverdlovsk Region. Catherine Vogulkina, Nikolai Karpol and Albert Chudinovskikh were awarded for their work in Russian athletics.

Putin’s goals fall under the category of improving the quality of life for Russians, especially for veterans.

Implementing the goals includes building affordable housing, upgrading housing, optimizing communal services, creating workplaces conducive to productivity, developing small- and medium-size businesses, improving kindergartens and investing in local activities.

Sverdlovsk government officials have made adjustments to the budget for 2015 to ensure that the region is striving to meet President Putin’s goals.

Some resources were designated to create a continuous educational process from kindergarten through high school.

The officials also made changes to draw on the region’s best industries: machinery, metallurgy and military-industrial production.

From many perspectives, engineering students and their innovations are the future of the Sverdlovsk region. Officials plan to establish a Ural Engineering School to continue drawing on these talents.

Yekaterinburg officials look forward to these exciting changes in the community.
