Theater Director Cyril Savelievich honored for artistic contributions

Cyril Savelievich, chief director for the Sverdlovsk State Academic Theater of Musical Comedy, was honored among others for his longtime contributions toward art and culture in the region, the theater said Friday.

Savelievich has been with the theater since 1977, bringing multiple staged musicals to life, including "Preserve Me, Sweetheart," "Night of Open Doors," Cats," and "Fiddler on the Roof" among others. The theater provides the region with musical and comedic shows, and is a major arts and culture center in Yekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk region.

Savelievich graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Theater, Music and Cinema in 1977  and has since been working with the Sverdlovsk State Academic Theater of Musical Comedy. He also has been a guest director and producer of over 40 productions in theaters across Russia.

Past winners include People's Artists Rimma Antonova and Viktor Sitnic, theater CEO Mikhail Safronov and chief artist Sergey Alexandrov.
