Avto Plus SEAT, a dealership in Russia, plans to convert the facility to focus on post-sale servicing, the company announced on Tuesday.
Volkswagen, the manufacturer will stop the sale of SEAT, its Spanish division's cars in Russia due to a number of economic troubles including a weakening ruble and contracting macroeconomic climate.
"Starting from Jan. 1, no new SEATs will be available for purchase in Russia; yet we as dealers keep up with our business as usual: We’ll offer our customers warranty and post-warranty services for the cars they bought earlier. We intend to meet all of our warranty obligations in full. A servicing agreement for 2015 will be signed with Volkswagen Group RUS in a couple of days. And for the time being, new SEATs can be bought with an impressive discount," said Alexander Goldberg, marketing manager for Avto Plus.
There are no plans in place as to what the showroom will become, due to the sudden notice of the stopping of sales. One possibility mentioned by Goldberg was the showing of other brands.
