Sverdlovsk Railways shipped 5.7% less building materials

The amount of building materials shipped by Sverdlovsk Railways between January and October 2014 dropped by 5.7 percent from the same period last year.

Iron and manganese shipments fell by 0.4 percent compared to 2013, the company reported on Tuesday. Shipments of chemicals and soda dropped by 8.9 percent, ferrous metals decreased by 4.3 percent, timber materials fell by 1.4 percent, and fossil coal dropped by 19.9 percent.

The total amount of building materials shipped by the railway for the first 10 months of 2014 was approximately 19.3 tons.

Alternatively, the company reported that shipments for other commodities had increased from January 2014 to October 2014.

Shipments of oil and petrochemicals increased 10.9 percent. Chemical and mineral fertilizer shipments were up 24.1 percent.

Overall, the railway handled approximately 123 tons of materials from January to October 2014.
