Seversky Tube Works spotlights upgrades to Sverdlovsk facility

Officials recently toured the new rolling mill at Seversky Tube Works in Sverdlovsk, Ukraine.

The mill is set to begin production soon and was updated thanks to modernized equipment provided by Danieli, an Italian company. This upgrade enables the company to create a continuous rolling mill.

This upgrade is just one of the many changes Seversky Tube Works has made to increase production efficiency by 90 percent. The company plans to use these changes to create 700,000 new jobs by 2020.

“The company (Seversky Tube Works) is an example of how...traditions and the introduction of modern technology can bring about enterprise,” Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said. “You must join forces so that such enterprises can (thrive).”

Sverdlovsk Investment News reported that Medvedev; Yevgeny Kuyvashev, Sverdlovsk’s governer; Arkady Dvorkovich, deputy prime minister; Igor Kholmanskikh, president of the Urals Federal District; and Dmitry Pumpyanskiy, chairman of the board of directors of OAO TMK, attended the tour of the new rolling mill.
