Sverdlovsk region preparing future specialists

Several educational programs and companies in the Sverdlovsk region are partnering up to prepare students with hands-on training, the Sverdlovsk Investment News reported Friday.
The collection of internship opportunities will provide students at the universities in the area with hands-on experience and potential employment with the companies. The measure comes as demand for skilled workers in vocational and manufacturing has increased.
"This program defines the basic conceptual approaches to the development of a system of training workers and engineers for the economy of the Sverdlovsk region through the creation of a system of continuous technical education," First Deputy Minister of Education in the Sverdlovsk region Alexei Pakhomov said.
The Ural region has been the recipient of funding in the past to implement such a project. However the funding was not enough. So the regional government has stepped in and provided additional funding, allowing the Ural Engineering School to begin its mission with the help of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC.) UMMC Personnel Director Victor Olyunin spoke of collaborative measures from their cooperation with are universities.
"UMMC has long understood the need of close cooperation with the relevant institutions. Hope only on the education system ... is not correct. I believe that the dual scheme of education ... is necessary to create and nurture," Olyunin said.
