Supreme Hockey League inducts Nizhny Tagil's Sputnik hockey team

The Supreme Hockey League (VHL) board of directors voted to induct the Sputnik Hockey Club, an Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg affiliate, into the league during a meeting last week in Nizhny Tagil.

As a result, the league determined that Takhir Dukayev will serve as the director of Sputnik Hockey Club. Dukayev began his career in 1995 as the chairman of the Salavat Yulayev Club, a position he held until 1999. He later went on to direct the Khimik and Molot-Prikamye clubs before becoming head coach of the Chelmet team in 2013, Ural Business Consulting reports.

"We set up a new club as quickly as we could and got a professional hockey manager to run it," Sputnik Hockey Club Chairman Alexei Zharich said, according to Ural Business Consulting.

Currently, Sputnik is courting new sponsors for its team. The club receives general sponsorship from Uralvagonzavod, as well as additional support from the Nizhny Tagil Council and the Sverdlovsk Ministry for Physical Education, Sports and Youth Policy.
