UrFU men's rugby team to participate in Rugby-7 championship

Ural Federal University announced last week that its men's rugby team will be participating in the Rugby-7 Russian Youth Championship.

The Rugby-7 championship will begin in late July and will gather the best men's college teams throughout Russia and surrounding areas, including Moscow teams, Alpar Kazan Empire Penza and a team from Krasnoyarsk.

"Games have to work hard, but we'll be ready for 100 percent," UrFU teammate Ilya Mordvinov said. "We will be very hard to compete with teams that have a long history and tradition, but the desire to always be the first."

UrFU's place in the championships was secured during a series of games in Perm earlier this month. Following their victories against the Perm team, UrFU's ranking in the preliminary stages of the Rugby-7 championship climbed to second behind Moscow.
