UrFU graduate Michael Siobodin to take over Russia's VimpelCom

UrFU Graduate Michael Siobodin recently replaced Anton Kudryashov as CEO of Russia's VimpelCom, the largest telecom operator in Russia.

As part of his duties, Siobodin will work to restructure the company's Beeline operation. Siobodin attributes much of his professional success to his UrFU education.

"The knowledge of several principles compensates for the lack of knowledge of the facts," Siobodin said of his professional philosophy.

Before his VimpelCom appointment, Siobodin was executive vice president of TNK-BP and first deputy general director for economics at IrkutskEnergo. In 2010, Siobodin was named "Best Manager in the Energy Sector" by "Kommersant" magazine.
