Ural State Economic University announced last week the names of the incoming freshman class during an event at the university's House of Culture.

During the event, newly admitted students had the opportunity to meet with the heads of major academic departments at USEU. Sergey Rogozhin, the vice president of academic affairs at USEU, presided over the reception.

Of the 14,860 applications received by university officials, 581 students were selected to enroll as freshman this fall. Three hundred forty-six of the new students will receive federal funding for their studies.

The most competitive area of study this year was business informatics, requiring students to have a minimum score of 229 on the entrance exam to gain admission.
