Yekaterinburg named third in urban improvements and development

A report from the Sverdlovsk Region Government on its municipalities in terms of urban improvements and development in 2012 put Yekaterinburg in third place, behind Nizhniy Tagil and Kamensk-Uralsky.

The ranking was amongst big cities in the region, while another ranking rated the mid-sized towns, naming Kachkanar first. For the smallest towns, Refta and Svobodny won top prizes, Ural Business Consulting reports.

The Sverdlovsk Region's government issued the regions honorary certificates and also gave grants of $50,000 to buy special cleaning vehicles and equipment to the highest ranking cities. The second prize cities received $40,000 and the third place $30,000.
