Yekaterinburg announces "Best Young Teacher" winner

Eugene Mashrova, a 22-year-old educator, won first place in Yekaterinburg's sixth annual 'Best Young Teacher' contest held Friday, December 14.

Twenty-one semi-finalists from all subjects and schools in Yekaterinburg attended the December 14 event. The awards ceremony was held high school number five in Yekaterinburg. Mikhail Matveyev, the deputy head of Yekaterinburg school administration, opened the proceedings with praise for all teachers who work hard to serve the children of Yekaterinburg, according to Ekburg.ru.

Honorable mentions went to Eugene Demyanov, a history teacher from school four, and physical education instructor from school 61 Alexander Teryushkov. Top honors went to Eugene Masharova, a Russian language and literature teacher from school 161.

Awards at the ceremony were presented by Arkady Chernetsky, a government official involved with local government and regional policy, Ekburg.ru reports.
