World Cup host cities to be announced soon

The Russia 2018 World Cup organizing committee will announce the final list of host cities for the 2018 tournament on Wednesday.

A FIFA delegation visited 13 candidate cities this summer, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg, Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Samara, Saransk, Volgograd, Sochi, Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don, RIA Novosti reports.

Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko has said in the past that two of the 13 cities may be dropped when the final list is announced.

Moscow's Luzhniki stadium will host the final match and St. Petersburg will hold a semifinal, according to Mutko.

It has not been revealed where the announcement of host cities will be made.
