Nizhny Tagil quickens spending of regional budget funding

The city of Nizhny Tagil has been rapidly spending its regional budget funds on a variety of projects, the Ministry of Finance of the Sverdlovsk region said Friday.

These funds have been used to further the integrated development program that the president of Russian set into place for Nizhny Tagil.

Nizhny Tagil is building a fitness center, kindergartens and preschools. City workers are also reconstructing a drama theater.

In the first quarter of 2015, the Ministry of Finance transferred more than $28 million U.S. to Nizhny Tagil. This amount is 27 percent of the yearly plan.

In March, Nizhny Tagil received additional financial support. These funds were given for social projects and expenses that the local treasury considered urgent.

These funds are in addition to the amount that Nizhny Tagil received in general for 2015, which was more than $105 million in intergovernmental transfers.

Experts estimate that the city will need more funds for anniversary celebrations later this year.

"Based on those priorities, which marked the head of state, and that there is a regional development program in Nizhny Tagil, 2013 activities were financed almost 25 billion rubles,” Sverdlovsk Governor  Eugene Kuyvashev  said. "This is serious money, as a result of which the inhabitants are already feeling the change in quality of life. But to dwell on this, we're not going to. The program will be implemented. Filling of the budget situation is not easy, but all commitments we are, and we will make it.”
