Russian Startup Tour visits Tomsk

The Russian Startup Tour began its second stage on Wednesday in Tomsk, Siberia.

The tour is the largest innovations roadshow in Russia. Its goal is to discover startups and encourage innovations throughout  Russia.

Tomsk is renowned for being a hub of innovation, and the city government is a strong supporter of small- and medium-sized businesses. The government offers a program that helps businesses by providing subsidies, logistical help and competitive grants.

There will be 20 projects competing during the Tomsk tour stop, including android robots and control methods, infra-red gas burners to heat water, and a DNA microchip to detect the genetic predisposition to breast cancer.

Winners will be selected in specific categories, including: efficient-energy technology, information technology, new industrial technology and materials, and biological and medical technology.

The winning startups will be invited to a pitch competition for the Startup Village in Moscow in June.
