The City of Yekaterinburg recently hosted a ceremony in which children from the Sverdlovsk region thanked a group of veterans for their victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Battle of Stalingrad.
According to the report from the Oblastnaya Gazeta, the Victory Day ceremony honored over 60 veterans.
More than 150 children attended the event to offer their thanks.
Alexei Levchenko, a 92-year-old major-general, was the guest of honor for the holiday. He fought on the front at Leningrad as well as participated in the battle of Kursk and the Battle of Stalingrad.
At the end of the ceremony, officials presented certificates to teenagers for “regional lessons of courage.”
The ceremony included more than just students and veterans. The audience also included Vyacheslav Pogudin (the chairman of the Social Policy Committee of the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk region) and Valery Boiko (the deputy minister of Social Policy of the region).
The Great Hall College of Polzunova hosted the meeting.
