Skolkovo Foundation President Viktor Vekselberg launched the Russian Startup Tour in Rostov-on-Don on Tuesday.
The program's first day covers training seminars, including open discussions and classes. The second day contains pitch sessions where entrepreneurs present their businesses to a panel. The winning companies will be welcomed to the Skolkovo Innovation Center’s Startup Village in Moscow this June.
Over 100 startup companies have registered for the two-day program in Rostov-on-Don, which enables new small business leaders from the southern region of Russia to participate in innovative seminars. Attendees traveled from Astrakhan and North Caucasus to participate.
Tour organizers hope the seminars will encourage entrepreneurs to develop innovative tools, such as financial mentorship and support systems, to produce and market their products.
"The Startup Tour is a forum that allows you to air your ideas," Vekselberg said. "In Skolkovo we have created an entire system that can help you realize your potential. We want you to have the confidence that if you have an idea, this idea will find support in us to try to make it happen."This is the fifth innovations roadshows from Russia. The tour will visit 10 Russian cities; Minsk, Belarus; and Almaty, Kazakhstan. Vekselberg, alongside Rostov’s Gov. Vasily Golubev, opened the Rostov-on-Don event with a presentation before hundreds of guests and entrepreneurs at the Don Plaza Hotel and Congress Center.
