Ural Federal University (URFU) recently partnered with Geomera to develop a laser meter along with Urals Pipe Works, Naum and Fund Skolkovo.
The meter will automatically measure the larger flow of parts of projects that involve complicated geometry. It will primarily be used to measure the threads of pipes and couplings. URFU researchers developed the mathematical algorithm behind the laser meter a few years ago.
The laser meter and various other machines will be implemented into the development of Yekaterinburg’s economy; and are expected to improve the region’s efforts toward import substitution.
Geomera brings experience with software development and management to the project.
URFU's new University Venture Development Fund for Innovation was instrumental in commercializing the laser meter.
Trials of the laser meter’s operations will start in the summer. The laser should be operationally ready by the end of 2015.
