The government of the Sverdlovsk region recently announced that there will be an all-Russian judo tournament Jan. 10-11.
The tournament, held in honor of the famous Russian coach Vladimir Zakharov, will be open only to junior wrestlers born between 1995 and 1997.
The strongest wrestlers from various regions throughout Russia will attend the competition.
The wrestlers will travel from Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Sverdlovsk, YANAO, Khanty-Mansiysk, Bashkortostan, Kazakhstan, Orbenburg, Perm, Tatarstan, Samara, Yakutia, Tula, Altai, Stavropol, Krasnoyarsk and St. Petersburg to attend the event.
The grand opening will begin at 11 a.m. Jan. 10. The fighting weight categories for this day will include juniors at 55, 60, 66, 73 and 81 pounds.
The second round of the competition will begin 11 a.m. Jan. 11. There will be two fighting weight categories for that day: Juniors at 90 and 100 kilograms as well as other juniors at 44, 48, 52, 57, 63, 70 and 78 pounds.
The tournament will be hosted in Yekaterinburg’s multi-purpose sports hall called VD Gymzina Youth Victoria, located on Lenin Avenue, d.68, Bldg D.
The event’s organizers plan for approximately 230 people to attend the tournament. The media is invited to cover the activities.
