Herman V. Mokronosov, the oldest university professor and lecturer at Ural Federal University (URFU), died on Sunday.
Mokronosov was 93 years old. He had worked at the university for 63 years.
Mokronosov held a doctorate degree and was a founding father of URFU’s philosophical school. He also was an Honored Scientist of Russia and professor emeritus.
For nearly 40 years, Mokronosov was the head of the Philosophy Department at Ural State Technical University, where he was a leader among the Social Sciences faculty.
Mokronosov’s academic achievements include authoring five books and more than 250 scientific articles published in both national and international journals.
Mokronosov was an active participant in the theoretical and methodological seminars hosted by URFU’s Department of Philosophy.
He earned several awards throughout his career, including the Veteran of Labour Order Badge of Honor and a Diploma of the Governor of the Sverdlovsk region.
Mokronosov also was a disabled veteran of World War II
Services for Mokronosov were held on Tuesday at the Cathedral of St. Panteleimon.
A farewell dinner will be held in the URFU dining room on Monday.
