The government of Sverdlovsk recently reported its intentions to build a monument honoring the military doctors of the Great Patriotic War.
The monument will be built on the territory near the Sverdlovsk regional clinical neuropsychiatric hospital for war veterans in Yekaterinburg.
Sverdlovsk Gov. Eugene Kuyvashev made the announcement on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Victory of the Great Patriotic War.
Kuyvashev signed a document that promotes the monument construction to a priority status.
The document that Kuyvashev signed states that the project’s manufacturing prototype plaster sculpture will be attained from the fund of gubernatorial programs in the Sverdlovsk region.
Kuyvashev has named a committee to organize the details. First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Vlasov and minister of Health of the Sverdlovsk region Arkady Bielawski will co-chair the committee as it organizes the project.
Several other members will join the co-chairs on the organizational team: Irina Lyakhov, the director of the hospital care; Yuri Sudakov, chairman of the regional organization of veterans; Simon Spector, deputy chairman of the board of trustees of the hospital; Yu.V.Islamova, chairman of the regional organization of the Hero of the Soviet Union; and Victor Babenko, representing the Russian Union of Afghanistan Veterans.
