Strategic transportation plan could bring changes to Sverdlovsk

The Sverdlovsk region is one of the first areas in Russia to implement strategic plans to develop transportation and economy.

Authorities hope that thorough document of the strategy will define the standards for improving Russia’s road infrastructure, accessibility, safety, and quality.

The document will note the importance of specialized programs in developing Russia’s transportation system. This will help authorities determine how much of the federal budget should be designated to projects.

Experts will then use the document to analyze the strategy’s influence on the socio-economic development of the Middle Urals. The document would include demographics, population distribution, industrial facilities, agriculture locations, current road conditions and existing transportation problems.

The strategy document would have the priorities designating specific times within each year and each area. Certain areas would take priority in the transportation renovation, including social responsibility to improve mobility, road and rail carriers, air quality, accessibility and reducing accidents on the highways and environmental pollution.

According to a recent report from Sverdlovsk Investment News, developments will last until 2030 and be focused on the Middle Urals economy.

Experts estimate that if the first draft of the document meets the agreement of public organizations and officials, the changes will be introduced in the beginning of 2015.
