UrFU forum discusses development prospects for Kazakh region

Ural Federal University hosted a discussion forum Monday on economic and investment development in the northern region of Kazakhstan, inviting experts from the university to speak.

During the forum, the collection of university experts, Ural-Eurasia Expert Club members and National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Northern Kazakhstan members agreed to cooperate in promotion and integration projects.

Small and medium-size enterprises (SME) are a common aspect when talking about economic development. A country or region that facilitates growth for business and individual entrepreneurial endeavors usually shows signs of growth in its economy.

Ural-Eurasia Expert Club Executive Director Konstantin Pogorelsky said innovative production should be at the core of any SME. Small businesses in the agriculture and service industries do not provide the opportunity to integrate nearly as much, Pogorelsky said.

He said many opportunities are available to start high-tech companies; pursuing and providing the latest in technology allows for greater cooperation. An example he gave was how Aspan-Innovation and the Urals Energy Institute teamed up to clean oil production equipment in Kazakhstan.
