Koltsovo Airport plans upgrades to prepare for 2018 World Cup

Koltsovo Airport plans to invest in redevelopment of its terminals and information technology infrastructure through 2020, a report said Friday.

The project includes renovation of the international terminals at the airport, a move that aims to improve overall passenger satisfaction and service. Automation and scheduling technology also will be added to the airport's existing systems to streamline air travel to the Ural region.

These measures aim to help the airport prepare to handle increased air traffic in prepartion for the upcoming 2018 Yekaterinburg FIFA World Cup. With the planned upgrades, the airport aims to be able to meet the infrastructure standards set forth by FIFA officials.

Aircraft maintenance will be enhanced with plans to build a new hangar for specialized vehicles and another for business and commercial jets.

These development plans will allow the airline to keep its prestige as one of the region's leading airports.
