MGIMO to launch educational competition

The Moscow State Institute for International Relations (MGIMO) announced Saturday that a competition will be held to allow children to showcase their skills in certain subjects.
The students will showcase their skills through examinations. Winners will be guaranteed acceptance into one of Russia's prestigious institutions of higher education where otherwise they might not have the opportunity to do so due to home and city circumstances.
Many of the students are from the Yekaterinburg and Ural regions, and many of them will go on to earn acceptance and to study at MGIMO. This year's competition will largely focus on the social sciences including geography and history.
Qualifying stages have begun and will run to end of 2014. The qualifying stage is open to students in grades 5 through 11 in Russia and other Commonwealth of Independent State countries.
The competition not only provides winners a path to university study but it provides statistics on the nature of education and the number of students who are succeeding in what regions of the federation.
