Ural State Mining University auditorium's transformation awes community

Last month, Ural State Mining University opened its recently renovated auditorium to the public with a celebration.

Beginning in June 2014, workers transformed the auditorium into a fully modernized concert hall, complete with state-of-the-art technology and an LED screen. The audience hall can seat over 750 people in plush orange chairs. The new stage can hold over a hundred performers at a time.

At the opening ceremony, a student musician performed “Uralbend” and “Rhinestone,” and for the first time, the audience heard the new sound and light equipment, which is on par with the system used at the Russian Olympics.

Participants flooded the new auditorium -- students, faculty, staff, families, friends, city officials and retired university employees -- for the grand opening. They watched performances, listened to speeches, played games, won gifts (such as a Samsung laptop and Lada Grant car) and learned about the renovations.

As part of the grand opening ceremony, the chairman of the Sverdlovsk region’s government, Denis Pasler, gave a speech about the drastic transformation from auditorium to concert hall. Nikolai Kosarev, rector of Mining Universirty, and Andrew Kozitsin Andrew, director general of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company -- a key supporter of the renovations -- also gave presentations.

The renovations are intended to strengthen the ties between students and the Urals area.

The university appreciates the contributions from approximately 700 people. The renovations could not have been completed without their thoughtfulness.

Another celebration for the auditorium renovation will be held on November 25. The event organizers plan for approximately 2,000 guests.
