Ural Federal University (UrFU) recently celebrated the 80th anniversary of its Department of Chemistry Faculty in the Institute of Natural Sciences.
The department began in 1934 and has educated more than 5,000 specialists. The first undergraduate chemistry class was offered in 1997, and the first graduate chemistry course was held in September 1997.
Many UrFU graduates go on to become doctors, scientists, innovators, teachers and professors.
UrFU hosted a festive concert to commemorate the event during Chemist Week. The concert featured students, graduates and teachers in a variety of performances.
Many audience members were impressed with the skills of the performers.
"Amazing concert," Alexey Ivanov, science professor at UrFU, said. "He [a performer] demonstrated the specificity of the chemical faculty: a little skit, but a lot of dancing and especially beautiful songs."
Attendees also participated in a game of Brain Ring, where teams of teachers answered questions related to their specialties.
As part of the celebration, the faculty building was set up as a photography and craft gallery to exhibit the work of both UrFU employees and students.
