A new bridge that crosses the Ufa River toward Kriulino in the Krasnoufimsky District -- and shaves approximately 93 miles off the drive between the Sverdlovsk Region and Perm -- recently opened to traffic, the Sverdlovsk Investment News reported.
Oleg Ryapisov, the head of the municipal administration of the Krasnoufimsky District, said the bridge will make a notable change in the socioeconomic development of the area, as well as improve mobility, traffic and the quality of life in the area.
The construction site spanned approximately 990 miles, which includes the 0.14-mile-long bridge.
The total cost of the project, which began in 2011, was approximately $3.6 million. Funds came from the regional budget for transport, road infrastructure, communications and information technology services.
The new bridge is part of an ongoing corridor project to link the Sverdlovsk region and the Perm region.
Construction is nearly complete on another bridge over the Ufa, which will connect the Pier Village road with the the village of Ust-Yugush in the central Artinsky District.
