At the second annual Oil and Gas Forum in Moscow, Skolkovo displayed its 12 best energy innovations.
The Skolkovo project was created by the Russian government and private investors in an effort to expand Russia’s oil and gas reliant economy. Oil and gas comprise half of Russia’s budget revenues.
Skolkovo uses five different research points to develop different technologies that maximize energy efficiency. Skolkovo’s findings were included in its display at the forum. A fresh perspective of pipeline diagnostics and cleaner car fuel are just two of the many innovations from Skolkovo.
“The condition of today’s oil and gas sector prompts a lot of questions from specialists,” forum moderator and Skolkovo Foundation President Viktor Vekselberg said. “The sector has developed very dynamically over the last decade, but today we have collided with challenges that need to be addressed.”
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich also attended the forum. “It’s great that we have the experience of implementing the results of innovative research, although this hasn’t become widespread yet, but there should be masses of examples already visible, and here we have work to do,” he said.
At the first day of the international conference, attendees observed a moment of silence in honor of the recent death of French oil company Total’s CEO Christophe de Margerie. He died when his airplane crashed a few days ago.
